Your site doesn't validate? Help is at hand

  • So you have spent a lot of money getting your website published, and it doesn't validate!
  • Maybe you have purchased an expensive web authoring application and produced the site yourself, expecting the application to produce valid code, and it hasn't!
  • Sure, the site looks as you intended, and seems to work well. So what if it doesn't validate?

HTML, the language used to produce web pages, is excellent for producing web pages that may be easily accessed by all people regardless of operating system: Windows, Mac, Unix, Linux etc, and browser: Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, etc. There are many more.

Valid HTML should enable web pages to be properly displayed regardless of operating system and browser used.

Most browsers also have error correction built into them, enabling them to display badly written HTML. This is why so much bad code still works. Of course this increases the size of the browser, and slows it down. It is likely that errors you are unaware of are giving someone else a lot of trouble. Visitors to your site might be leaving because of this.

Think of it as a badly tuned motor car. It starts and runs OK. Sure it is blowing a bit of blue smoke, and uses extra fuel, so what? If you spend $50 getting it tuned, you could save $200 in saved fuel, that's what!

Spend some money 'tuning up' your website and you might increase sales beyond the cost of the tune-up.
